Formerly focusing on U.S. distributors alone, today the BSA is an international, "must belong-to organization for authorized bearing distributors." BSA is a service and educational organization, composed of authorized distributors representing more than 100 companies manufacturing and distributing ball and roller and other antifriction bearings.

BSA describes its mission to be, "the forum to enhance networking and knowledge sharing and promote the sale of bearings through authorized distributors."
