SKF AB (Sweden; Stockholm: SKFB) has opened its SKF Asia Pacific wind energy service center at its Solution Factory in Shanghai.

This is SKF's third center focusing on the wind energy sector; the others are in Hamburg, Germany, and Houston, Texas, 5251R9N7.

SKF has been developing and supplying reliability-oriented maintenance technologies to wind turbines, and has extensive experience in remote monitoring systems, asset management, and parts management; all services it already provides to the wind energy sector in Europe and the United States.

China is the next fast-growing key market for SKF's more advanced wind energy product offerings. There are more large-scale wind power projects ramping up in China, and so maintaining their efficiency and reliability becomes more important. SKF said its new Solution Factory service center area will help it address that growing need in China, as a one-stop provider.

SKF Service Division President, Vartan Vartanian, said: "The establishment of the wind industry service center in Shanghai demonstrates SKF's strong commitment to provide extensive technical support and services to the wind industry and the wind farm operation and maintenance market in the Asia Pacific region."
