Industrial output in the United Kingdom fell at its fastest rate since 2002 -- 1.8
times faster from August - October than it did in the June - August period.
Manufacturing was hit hardest, falling 1.4% in one month, from September to October. During
October, the UK index of manufacturing production fell 1.7%, the sharpest drop since
January 2003. Basic metals and metal products industries saw the largest one-month drop, at 4.2%.
