RBC Bearings Inc. (USA; NASDAQ: ROLL) is building a new bearing manufacturing plant in Houston.

The facility, adjacent to RBC's recently acquired Coastal Bearing Services on Knight Road, is reportedly budgeted at USD $17 million.

The new plant will manufacture extra-large slewing ring bearings, primarily for the fast-growing wind turbine market.

Although the facility's construction is running at least 60 days behind schedule due to major disruptions caused by hurricane Ike, RBC recently said it expects equipment to be delivered and online by April 2009. Sales are projected to start slowly, initially coming in at around $5 million.
