Bearings Specialty Co. (USA website) announced it has acquired both Machine Parts Corp. and Machine Drives, of Providence, Rhode Island and Hartford, Connecticut, respectively.

The two companies will continue operations as-is under the new owners, with existing employees, as divisions of Bearings Specialty.

Founded in 1918, Bearings Specialty is an independent distributor of bearings and power transmission components. Headquartered in Canton, Massachusetts, it has six locations in the upper northeastern United States. Machine Parts and Machine Drives were founded in 1929, and also distribute bearings and power transmission parts.

With the acquisition, Bearings Specialty now has eight locations, all across the far northeast United States. The company also offers additional services, such as relubrication in its Class 10,000 cleanroom.
