Motion Industries (USA; a division of Genuine Parts; NYSE: GPC) has acquired privately held Shuster Corporation of Bedford, Massachusetts website).

Founded in 1916, Shuster is best known as a bearing manufacturer. The company primarily manufactures bearings and related components, most commonly for industrial applications. The bearing product line covers tapered, needle, cylindrical and spherical roller bearings, along with large-bore tapers and ball bearings. It also offers plain bearings, journal bearings, and mounted bearings in both metric and inch dimensions.

From Motion Industries' perspective, Shuster is also a key distributor of bearings and power transmission products, via its Shuster Industrial division. A marine-focused division, Shuster Marine, rounds out the business.

In addition to the home office and manufacturing facility in Bedford, Shuster has three satellite warehouses in Texas, Indiana, and California.

A representative told eBearing that Motion does not plan any major changes for Shuster, but that Shuster's strong distribution presence and manufacturer relationships offer a strong foundation for Motion to continue building its presence. The Shuster name will remain in use.
