Sujana Universal Industries (India;

via its Sujana Bearings division, is reportedly looking to expand
its business beyond bearings.
The company manufactures bearings at its plant in Hyderabad, producing both finished ball and roller
bearings and components. The component inner and outer races, finished and unfinished, are supplied to a number of
other bearing manufacturers. Finished bearings are sold into several key markets, including
automotive, offroad industrial, conveyors, and electrical appliances.
Sujana's widest line of bearings is deep groove ball bearings up to 110mm OD, in a variety of configurations
primarily in 6000, 6200 and 6300 series. It also manufactures a more limited lineup of tapered roller bearings,
up to 170mm OD, in both inch and metric sizes.
The bearing manufacturing operations are one part of Sujana's overall business, Sujana Universal
Industries, which encompasses production of everything from ceiling fans to castings and
forgings.
Sujana said it has decided, however, that manufacturing bearings and its customer base for bearings
and components are not providing the inroads to automotive OEMs that it had hoped. With a renewed focus
on becoming an automotive OEM supplier
in India, the company is investigating moving beyond bearings to other manufactured components.
The bearing manufacturing business will be maintained in Hyderabad, but the company's development focus will
shift to identifying and developing other products with better potential for automotive OEM sales.
