F-M Spindle Nut Stabilizes Bearing Adjustment

Federal-Mogul Corp. (USA; operating in bankruptcy since October 2001) announced a new heavy-duty axle nut under its National product line.

While nuts are usually an uninteresting but key part of the wheel-end assembly, the new Everlok/Axilok unitized spindle nuts are a step forward.

Offered for spindle sizes from 1.5" through 3.48", the Everlok/Axilock one-piece assemblies replace traditional two-piece and three-piece assemblies.

More importantly, the units also allow faster and more accurate bearing adjustment, holding the bearings in position with less maintenance caused by tolerance "stack up" in multi-piece systems.

Instead, the new spindle nuts allow fast and accurate bearing adjustment, holding bearing end play adjustment tolerance to just 0.002".

National also offers a full line of seals and matched set wheel bearings, through-hardened trailer bearings, differential and transmission rebuild kits, and hub caps.
