SKF Acquires Monitek Australia
copyright © 2006 eBearing Inc.
SKF AB (Sweden) said it has acquired Monitek Australia
(website), a supplier of condition
monitoring equipment, vibration monitoring and analysis, and wear debris analysis for the mining industry.
Monitek's capability statement is here
Founded in 1988, Monitek is a condition monitoring company, "with a focus on pushing the technical
limits on vibration analysis to achieve superior results." The company not only develops its own
proprietary software, but also develops the related monitoring hardware.
Monitek's specialty is its focus on providing technologically advanced, high-precision services to Australia's
important mining industry, and variable speed drives in particular. Variable speed drives are in many
critical applications yet have been difficult to properly monitor and diagnose.
Key markets for Monitek's proprietary systems and solutions include
mining draglines, shovels and longwall systems; coal preparation plants in New South Wales and Queensland;
the shipping industry ports; power generation equipment; and the general manufacturing sector.
Monitek currently has employees in seven offices across Australia's mining-heavy east coast.
It will become a division of SKF Australia Pty Ltd.
