SKF USA Inc. (a subsidiary of SKF AB, Sweden) announced it has acquired Precision Balancing and Analyzing.

Founded in 1960, PB&A has 40 employees in two locations -- Mentor, Ohio and Atlanta, Georgia.

PB&A specializes in repairs, modifications, and upgrades for all types of machine tool spindle mechanisms, including antifriction spindle ball or roller bearing units and belt-driven or motorized, standard, or high-frequency units from most spindle manufacturers. The company also balances and performs vibration analysis on individual components and complete assemblies.

SKF said the acquisition, as part of its Certified Spindle Service Network, is intended to broaden its worldwide presence in spindle repair and related capabilities. PB&A is SKF's 17th CSSN location and complements the other two U.S. locations -- SKF Precision Technologies in Grafton, Wisconsin and Armada, Michigan.

SKF did not yet disclose the price or other details of the acquisition.
