Trade Court Affirms U.S.
Duties on Chinese Tapers

The Court of International Trade has affirmed the U.S. Department of Commerce, rejecting a challenge to antidumping tariff orders on, "tapered roller bearings and parts thereof, finished and unfinished," from the People's Republic of China (Slip Op. 05-3).

Luoyang Bearing Factory (China) had filed the challenge to review, for duties covering bearings and components imported to the U.S. between June 1, 1998 and May 31, 1999.

Note that trade cases, customs duty remediations, and similar actions often run several years in arrears due to set periods allowed for appeals and reviews.

The court, in affirming the judgment, noted no other appeals from any other bearing companies were filed and the decision stands as stated.

Following the "final and conclusive court decision," Commerce has finalized its case result; its Import Administration, International Trade Administration then has instructed U.S. Customs and Border Protection to liquidate the entries in the review.
