The Taiwan Association for Machinery Industry (TAMI) reported manufacturing and industrial
equipment and components export statistics for the first half of 2005.
Steady, strong growth over the past several quarters has shown Taiwan to be another major,
but often ignored, Asian component in the globalization of precision manufacturing.
For the half, the bearings / gears / ball screws segment was up 17% over 2004, accounting
for a total export value of USD $242.6 million, from 2004's $207.6 million.
This puts the group tenth overall in Taiwan's manufactured goods export categories. Leading the
way are machine tools; plastic / rubber production machinery; compressors, pumps and fans;
misc. machinery; valves; woodworking machinery; molds and dies; textile manufacturing
machinery; and sewing machines.
Total manufacturing machinery and components exports for the first half of 2005 were
$6.49 billion, up 9% over 2004.
