GGB (formerly Glacier Garlock Bearings, a division of EnPro Industries, USA) has opened an office in Shanghai, China as of March 1, 2005. The office will service customers in mainland China and Taiwan.

Over the past year, GGB has opened an office in New Delhi and inaugurated a new bearing plant in Slovakia, with the related closing of two other plants.

GGB is the world's largest manufacturer of prelubricated and self-lubricating metal-polymer plain bearings, with production facilities in the United States, Germany, France, Slovakia and Brazil, along with 22 other operating units now in 18 countries.

Its present form was assembled from Garlock Bearings and Glacier Industrial Bearing, which Goodrich acquired from Dana in May 2001. The combined unit was renamed Glacier Garlock Bearings. In mid-2002, Goodrich spun off its manufacturing businesses as EnPro Industries; Glacier Garlock Bearings is the key manufacturing component of EnPro. The business was renamed GGB in early 2004.

Joe Fults, GGB VP of Business Development, said, "China is a very important market for us. Our customers with a presence there have been asking for the same level of service that we provide in Europe and the Americas."
