Trelleborg Completes Acquisition of
Smiths Group Polymer Sealing Solutions

Trelleborg Group (Sweden) has completed its previously announced acquisition of Polymer
Sealing Solutions (PSS), formerly a division of Smiths Group (UK). PSS is a leading
global manufacturer of precision polymer seals and bearings.
Bearing manufacturing operations within Trelleborg now include Orkot Hydro and Marine
Bearings, along with the polymer bearing manufacturing operations of PSS
division, Busak+Shamban.
In a July 2003 article, we described PSS business operations in detail and
reported how SKF AB (Sweden) had come up short in its bid to acquire PSS.

Trelleborg is forming a new division, Trelleborg Sealing Solutions, to house the
operation. Overseeing the business will be Claus Barsoe, formerly of Busak+Shamban
and lately head of PSS's largest business unit, Industrial Marketing Europe.
