Morgan Construction Company (USA) reported its Morgoil Bearing Division signed another contract to supply oil-film bearings for yet another new rolling mill being built in China.

Founded in 1888, Morgan manufactures rolling mill products and services worldwide.

Morgoil oil film bearings were developed almost 70 years ago; they have since become the premier load-carrying bearing used in rolling mills. Morgan also acquired and produces Mesta brand oil film bearings.

Tolerances on Morgoil bearings are tight. Wall thickness is maintained to 2 microns, and OD runout is held to within 5 microns.

The latest order, for 17 sets of bearings, is being supplied to Angang New Steel (Anshan, China). Delivery is scheduled for mid-2004.

The bearings, supplied by Morgan's Morgan-Shanghai manufacturing facility, are the latest in a long series of Morgoil bearing sales to new Chinese mill operations.

Morgoil bearings are being installed at Nanjing Iron and Steel Company's plate mill in Jiangsu, China. The plant is being built by Voest Alpine (UK).

Morgoil bearings have also recently gone to Ishikawajima-Harima Heavy Industries (IHI, Japan) as part of a new plate mill being built by IHI for China Steel Corporation, Kaohsiung, Taiwan.

In North America, APM of Monterey, Mexico recently purchased Morgoil bearings for its new reversing rougher mill being built by Danieli & Co. Officine Meccaniche SpA (Italy).

Morgoil Bearing Division also has a new head. Gabriel Royo, a 12-year veteran of the company, left Morgoil in 2000 to take senior manufacturing development positions with Intel and Veeco. He returns to the company as Vice President and General Manager of Morgoil Bearing Division.
