The General Administration of Customs, People's Republic of China,
has reported export statistics for ball and roller bearings,
September 2002 and year-to-date through September 2002.
September exports were 149.7 million sets, up sharply from 136.9
million in August. The value of September's bearing exports
was USD $54 million. Both the volume of sales and the average
selling price show surprising strength compared to year-to-date averages.
The average so far through 2002 had been 142.5 million sets, putting
September's volume 5% above that. At $54 million, the value of September's
exports is 8% above the year-to-date $50 million average.
For the year through September, total exports were 1.29 billion sets,
8.9% ahead of 2001. The value of those exports was up 3.8%, to
USD $452.3 million.
