The U.S. Import Administration (IA), International Trade Commission (ITC),
Department of Commerce (DOC) has released the final determinations of
dumping duties on ball bearings and component parts from producers
and exporters in five countries.
Ball bearings - mounted and unmounted - and component parts
from France, Germany, Italy, Japan,
and the United Kingdom were under review. The time period involved in
this review is May 1, 2000 through April 30, 2001.
On April 10, 2002, the DOC issued a preliminary administrative review
of antidumping orders on ball bearings from those countries. The DOC
found that dumping (sales into the United States at below fair market
value) had taken place and determined to issue antidumping duties.
Additionally, separate hearings were held on June 6 for Japan-specific
issues and June 11 for Germany-specific issues.
Although 40 manufacturers /exporters were originally under scrutiny
for dumping,
the final determination applies to 27 of them. The others were
eliminated, primarily because they did not make any sales into
the U.S. during the period under review.
This final review has fine-tuned the duties originally determined
for the April 10 report.
Following is a table of the
final weighted-average dumping margins. These are the rates which
the ITC is supplying to U.S. Customs within the next 15 days.
