SKF (Sweden) has been chosen by Volvo AB to supply
wheel hub assembly units for its all-new 2002 Sport Utility Vehicle.
This is Volvo's first SUV. Production is set to begin in
early 2002 and marketed as either a 2002 or 2003 model year vehicle.
The hub assembly units being supplied by SKF are all
new-generation units with integral wheel speed sensors.
SKF bearings are also being used in the transmission and engine
choices. Chicago-Rawhide, a division of SKF, will be supplying
many of the drivetrain seals.
Over the projected production life of the vehicle, SKF said it
expects to supply Volvo with more than 3.8 million bearings.
