FAG Kugelfischer Georg Schafer AG (Schweinfurt, Germany) has acquired 26%
of nanotechnology startup Ehrfeld Mikrotechnik GmbH (Mainz, Germany).
The founders, Dr. Wolfgang Ehrfeld and his wife Ursula, also founded the
Institute of Microtechnology Mainz.
Dr. Ehrfeld is a pioneer in microtechnology and nanotechnology, currently
holding over 80 patents in the field.
FAG also recently formed Mymotors & Actuators GmbH, to manufacture
tiny electric motors.
The company said it regards its investment in Ehrfeld Mikrotechnik as an
important step in expanding its microtechnology business options.
