copyright © 2000 eBearing Inc.
Ingersoll-Rand Co. (USA) announced second quarter earnings for fiscal
year 2000 and issued a warning about their potential performance in the third quarter.
Ingersoll-Rand is a widely diversified industrial products and components manufacturer.
The company manufactures bearings under the Torrington, Fafnir, Kilian, Argosy and
Kilrol brands. These bearing businesses are in their Engineered Products division.
Second quarter sales from continuing operations rose 4% to $2.12 billion from $2.04
billion in 1999, while operating profits rose to $183.4 million from $156.2
million in 1999. Operating margins increased to 15.9% in 2Q2000 from 14.9% in 2Q1999.
However, in making the earnings announcements, Ingersoll-Rand also warned that
continued weakness in its industry sectors would depress sales in the third quarter
and that the company's operating results would not meet analysts' expectations.
