Genuine Parts Reports Record
Operating Results for First Quarter 2000

Genuine Parts Company (Atlanta, GA), parent company of Motion Industries, a major
bearing distributor, announced today that sales for 1Q2000 were up 9% over 1Q1999
and Net Income increased 7% for the same period.
Net Sales for 1Q2000 were $2.1 billion, and Net Income was $91.6 million.
Genuine Parts also declared a regular quarterly dividend of $0.275 per share.
The separate operating results for Motion Industries were not immediately available.
