In the midst of a management shakeup and restructuring at Exide Corporation, its President and COO returned to Federal-Mogul, his previous employer. Alan Johnson left F-M in 1999 to join Exide, and now rejoins F-M in the new position of Executive Vice President, Americas and Asia. Johnson will have responsibility for all of the company's original equipment and aftermarket operations in North America, South America and Asia. Johnson had been with F-M since 1970; his most recent position had been as Executive Vice President for manufacturing and international aftermarket operations.

Exide, a global leader in the lead-acid battery business and electric storage solutions, is reorganizing to a Business Unit structure organized by six customer types rather than geography. Robert A. Lutz, Exide's Chairman and CEO, will assume Johnson's roles of President and Chief Operating Officer on an interim basis.

Separately, Federal-Mogul recently announced a number of other management moves, a few of which are listed below.

Kevin Backus to Vice President Operations for Brake Parts and Chassis Products.

Dennis Wappelhorst to Director of Engineering, Brake Parts and Chassis Products.

Kimberly Welch to Vice President, Electronic Business and Communications

Tom Conaghan to Senior Vice President, Sealing Systems, Visibility and Systems Protection.
