SKF (Sweden), FAG Kugelfischer Georg Schafer AG (Germany) and NN Ball & Roller (USA) announced that they will form a jointly owned firm to make and sell chrome steel balls for bearings and other products.

The new company, NN Euroball ApS, will have 3-way ownership. NN Ball & Roller will hold 54%, and SKF and FAG will each have 23%. NN will have operating responsibility.

NN Euroball ApS will acquire the SKF ball factory in Pinerolo, Italy; the FAG ball factory in Eltmann, Germany and the NN ball factory in Kilkenny, Ireland.

The new company will employ approximately 700 people and yearly sales should be in the range of € 100 million. The company plans to be established and running by mid-2000.

Earlier this year, NN Ball & Roller, General Bearing and Jiangsu Lixing Steel Ball formed a joint venture to manufacture rolling elements in China at the Jiangsu factory.
