The Timken Company (Canton, Ohio) will close its Rail Bearing Service plant in Little Rock, Arkansas.

Vinod Dasari, President - Rail Business said, "Consolidation in the rail industry in North America has created intense competition for fewer customers. Reduced markets for products and changes in maintenance practices in the industry have impacted our volume. This closing will continue the company's rationalization of operations and will position us to better meet market conditions and customer needs."

The plant currently employs 14; it will be closed by the end of January 2001.
