Roller Bearing Company of America Inc. (RBC; Fairfield, Connecticut) has acquired the tapered roller bearing factory operated by SKF USA, Inc. in Glasgow, Kentucky.

SKF had originally planned to close the plant later this year, shifting production to other existing facilities.

RBC acquired the plant through a newly-established Tyson subsidiary, reflecting the facility's original name.

Michael Hartnett, RBC's President and CEO said, "The Tyson tapered roller bearings produced at the Glasgow plant are very well respected in the industry and we believe this acquisition will be a fine addition to our business."

Roller Bearing Corporation of America Inc. is the largest privately owned bearing manufacturer in the United States.
