GKN Sintered Metals (UK) has acquired Laurel Manufacturing (USA), a producer
of powder metal bearings.
Laurel's primary customers are in the lawn and garden, hand
tool, and domestic appliance industries. They include Frigidare, Whirlpool,
General Electric, Raytheon and Bosch.
Laurel's sales in 1997 were USD $18.3 million; GKN Sinter Metals is the world's largest producer
of powder metal parts, with sales over $500 million.
