| Position Description |
We are seeking an individual to oversee the Quality functions for the development,
manufacturing, sourcing, and distribution of our products -- covering both domestic
and off-shore.
This is a key management position, reporting directly to the Product Development Manager.
|
| Responsibilities |
• Overall responsibility for the Quality Management System (QMS)
• Evaluate current systems, design system upgrades to improve
their effectiveness, implement upgrades, and lead the QMS for both
domestic manufacturing facilities as well as our off-shore vendors
• Enhance, implement, and coordinate quality assurance program to
minimize defects in new and existing products
• Work with Sales Engineering to develop specifications for off-shore RFQ's of
existing and new products
• Participate in the RFQ process, review quotes and compliance to specs
• Work with management team on purchasing decisions
• Oversee new product development, from sample inspection / approval to
pre-shipment verification, and incoming inspection of final shipments
• Responsible for quality of imported products
• Evaluate the current effectiveness of our off-shore vendors' Quality
Management Systems
• Work with vendors to make QMS improvements
• Determine if independent inspection services are required
• Perform internal audits of both manufacturing and distribution facilities
to assure compliance with the QMS
• Serve as lead person for both internal and external customer and vendor audits
• Supervise the quality improvement department with direct reports of inspectors / auditors

| Experience and Qualifications |
• 4-year degree in technical Engineering, Technology, or Manufacturing
• 5+ year experience in progressive quality roles
• Experience in the development and implementation of Quality Systems
• Experience in off-shore sourcing and quality management, concentrating in China
• Proficient in MS Office, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Act
• Excellent communication and organizational skills
Not required but considered a plus:
• Thorough understanding and the ability to lead APQP / PPAP processes
• Experience in lean manufacturing / continuous improvement techniques
• Proficiency in AutoCAD
• Experience with ISO9001:2001 or QS9000
• Experience with MAS90 software

| Education |
4-year degree in technical Engineering, Technology, or Manufacturing
|
